Clare’s Tomato is an inspiring children’s book that I would recommend to young readers, parents, and teachers who want to teach children the joy of growing a vegetable garden. Clare is a curious young girl that has a lot of questions to ask about life. Her father feeds her curiosity by bringing home a tomato plant for Clare to care for and grow in her backyard. She goes to the library to research how to care for tomatoes and she also visits her neighbor’s garden to ask him questions. She becomes attached to her tomatoes and doesn’t want to eat them. She soon learns that it is necessary to pick the ripe tomatoes, or they will fall off the vine and go to waste.
